Birds nesting under a solar array is one of the most expensive bird problems a house can have, because the damage is to wiring and to the panels rather than to a wall.
This kit closes the perimeter: a 30 m roll of PVC coated galvanised welded steel mesh and 70 stainless steel fastener clips.
The mesh openings are about 13 mm, which is fine enough to exclude small birds as well as pigeons, and coarse enough not to hold leaf litter against the panels.

The reason to do this is what sits under the panels rather than what sits on them. The cavity between an array and the roof is warm, sheltered, out of sight and impossible to reach, which makes it close to ideal for pigeons.
