About this product
We are not going to tell you this stops snakes.
It is a moulded anti-climb strip and it is sold here as one. There is no good evidence that spike strips exclude snakes, and a snake is not a problem to guess about.
This page sells our moulded plastic anti-climb strip. What it does not do is claim to be a snake barrier, because we have no evidence that it is one.
Snakes move differently from mammals and birds. They distribute their weight along a surface rather than standing on feet, which is precisely the thing a spike strip exploits.
A physical snake barrier is a fine mesh fence, buried at the base, angled outward and with no gaps. That is a different product and a different job.
If a snake in your garden is worrying you, the right first step is identification, not a purchase. Most snakes in France are harmless and all of them are protected.
As an anti-climb strip for mammals it is a good product at €7 per 50 cm with no minimum, and that is what we are selling.
We are keeping this page because it is a live address on the old site and because the question behind it is real. What we are not doing is repeating the claim. The captured listing described this strip as providing complete protection against snakes and there is nothing to support that.
The mechanism argument is straightforward. A spike strip works by denying a foot somewhere to land. A snake does not land, it flows, spreading its weight along whatever it is crossing. A row of blunt plastic spikes is an uneven surface rather than a barrier.
In France all snakes are protected species, and the ones people are frightened of are far rarer than the ones they actually see. If you have found one, photograph it from a distance and get it identified before you do anything at all. Habitat is the real lever: log piles, long grass against a wall, rubble and rodent activity are what makes a garden attractive.
Fitting is the same story as with any strip. Clean the surface, cover the whole run, and take it right into whatever it terminates against. A gap at one end is not a rounding error, it is the route.
Once it is up there is essentially nothing to do. It does not corrode, it does not need painting, and the only annual job is flicking leaf litter out of the spikes so nothing packs down into a platform.

What mesh size?
Small enough that the species in question cannot pass, which means identifying it first. There is no universal number.
Are snakes protected in France?
Yes. All snake species in France are protected, and killing or capturing one is an offence.
I have found a snake in the garden. What now?
Photograph it from a safe distance and get it identified before doing anything. Most of what people see is harmless.
Who identifies it?
A local nature association, a herpetology group or your mairie can usually point you to someone. It is normally free.
What actually reduces snakes in a garden?
Habitat. Move log piles and rubble away from the house, cut a clear margin where long grass meets a wall, and deal with rodents, which are the food.
Why does the compost heap attract them?
It is warm and it is full of prey. It is a classic spot for exactly those reasons.
Do ultrasonic devices repel snakes?
There is no good evidence that they do, and we would not sell you one for that.
Do the powders and granules work?

Should I block the gaps under my shed?
Reducing shelter near the house is sensible generally, as long as nothing is inside when you do it.
Do you sell snake mesh?
Not a purpose made one. Our finer galvanised mesh is intended for solar panels and we would not want it bought as a snake barrier on that basis.
What about my chickens?
A snake going after eggs or chicks is a coop construction question: fine mesh, buried, with no gaps. Same principles.
Does the strip work on rats?
It can deter them from a run. A rat problem is a proofing and hygiene job and a strip is a small part of it.
Can I fit it around a pond?
You can, but be clear about what you are expecting. Amphibians and small mammals use pond margins and a strip is not a species-selective thing.
What is the maintenance?
Flick debris out of the spikes once a year.
Do you always talk customers out of buying?
Only when the product will not do the job. It is cheaper for both of us than a refund.
How much is delivery and how long does it take?
Delivery across France is free on orders over €35, and €15 below that. We process an order in 2 to 5 days and delivery then takes about 10 to 18 business days. A tracking number is emailed as soon as it ships.

If exclusion is genuinely needed, it is a fence, not a strip:

buried at the base so nothing goes under it
angled outward at the top so nothing goes over it
no gaps at all, including at gates and corners
